Inspired by Song(Ming), a Chinese font that was designed for movable type. This font came out to embrace the opening of a new era in printing.
One of the characteristics of this typeface is they have thick vertical strokes contrasted with thin horizontal strokes which reminds me of serif fonts in English. „Serifs give the eye a curve to hug.“ There‘s always a certain rhythm and balance created by single letters when they‘re putting together. This font is designed to give readers‘ eyes room to breathe.To build a bridge between Chinese and English culture. To name this font „Nouveau“ contained my hope for the traditional serif to shine once again as a new classic.

Salt has been used by humans for multiple purposes with a long history. From food preservation to snow melting. At one point, there were many salt roads built in order to trade salt, made connections between previously unknown civilizations. Morton Salt’s new packaging provides compliments to the indispensable product of our daily life.
The target audience is people who appreciate history and who care about how their dining table and kitchen look like. Through the whole design, the audience can really appreciate the way of how these packages are opened. Enjoy their life with Morton Salt products.
The illustration on the packages was first drawn on paper representing seas and mountains where most salt come from, during the creating process there were salt splashed on top to create a road, and lastly made a collage. The main idea of the whole set was to offer the audience a way of revealing, revealing the beauty and stories behind salt.
